Teaching as a discipline worth documenting.
This film was made for the Wardlaw+Hartridge school, an educational institution that wanted to show, not just tell what exceptional teaching looks like; a genuine portrait of educators doing what they do best, with students who are actually engaged.
Capture something that disappears when you watch it.
The best moments in a classroom are fragile. They happen between people, in real time, and they vanish the moment a camera makes everyone self-conscious. The challenge was getting close enough to catch those moments without breaking them.
Find the moment of contact.
The film is built around a single idea: that teaching, at its best, is a form of contact between a mind that knows something and a mind that's ready to receive it. Everything else, curriculum, credentials, facilities, is infrastructure. The film goes looking for the human thing inside it.
